Deogarh: The Gram Panchayat Technical Assistant (GPTA) of Tileibani block in Deogarh district, Bikash Kumar Behera has been found to possess assets worth Rs 1.02 crore during a Vigilance raid on his property on Monday.
Vigilance raided three places, including Behera’s office, on allegations of acquisition of assets disproportionate to known sources of income.
Behera was found in possession of assets worth Rs 1.02 crore, including one double-storey building at at Balam in Deogarh, 60 plots of which 59 plots are in Deogarh and one is in Sambalpur town worth Rs 50.68 lakh, bank deposits over Rs 6.61 lakh, insurance deposits over Rs 21.15 lakh, gold ornaments weighing 386 grams worth over Rs 7.83 lakh and cash of Rs 2.99 lakh.
Three teams of Odisha Vigilance comprising 4 DSPs, 2 Inspectors and other staff conducted the raids.
“The simultaneous searches were conducted on the basis of a court warrant and further investigation in the case is continuing. We are ascertaining the actual income of the official,” said a vigilance official.
