Cuttack: The Cuttack district administration declared Athagarh as a containment zone after two positive cases of COVID-19 were reported from the area on Tuesday.
The clampdown in 18 wards of Athgarh Notified Area Council (NAC) will be enforced from 2 pm on June 30 (Tuesday) till 6 pm on July 3 (Friday), Cuttack Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani said.
As per an order, the areas under the containment zone will include:
East – All the connecting approach roads to State Highway-65
West – Athgarh NAC, Birakishorepur to Dorada Chhak
North – Chandabali Chhak to Barabati Hotel at Kantol
South – Chandabali Chhak to Kaitha Chhak, Dhaipur, Chandabali Chhak to Radhaballavpur
The order further said that vehicles and people will be prohibited from entering and leaving the containment zone. Local residents will have to stay at home.
Besides, all shops, business establishments, and government and private institutions will remain closed during the containment period.
It also said that the supply of medicines and essential goods will be ensured by the block administration.
The two cases in Athgarh were among 17 fresh COVID-19 cases reported from Cuttack district on Tuesday. Of the others, seven were reported from Mahanga, followed by Badamba (4), CMC (2), Cuttack Sadar (1) and Choudwar (1).
The 17 new cases have taken the district’s coronavirus-affected tally to 575.
