Bhadrak: An attempt to loot an ATM at Baligaan in Chandabali of Bhadrak district was foiled on Sunday night.
Sources said some locals spotted two persons ransacking the ATM counter and immediately informed the police.
However, the looters made a hasty retreat on spotting people near the ATM on the fear of being arrested.
During investigation, police found that a portion of the ATM was broken.
Police are also examining the footage of the CCTV camera installed near the spot to elicit details about the miscreants.
On August 6, an attempt to loot cash from an ATM machine of State Bank of India (SBI) near Balasore railway station was foiled by Sahadevkhunta police with the arrest of two persons.
The accused were identified as Sudev Ray (25) and Mithun Singh (20) of West Bengal.
A number of ATM cards, train and flight tickets were recovered from them.
The incident took place when a train passenger noticed the duo equipped with gas cutters and other equipment break into the ATM kiosk and immediately alerted the police about the loot bid.
Police rushed to the spot and nabbed the looters.
