Attack On Car: Owaisi Snubs Union Govt, Refuses Z-Category Security

New Delhi: Asaduddin Owaisi has refused the Union government’s offer to provide him with Z-category security a day after his vehicle was fired at by miscreants near Meerut.

Owaisi, who shifted to another vehicle as tyres of his car were punctured by bullet shots on Thursday afternoon, and others were unhurt in the attack near a toll plaza when they were on way to Delhi after campaigning for the upcoming UP elections.

“I don’t fear death. I don’t want ‘Z’ category security, I reject it… make me an ‘A’ category citizen. Please do justice, charge them (shooters) with UAPA,” the president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) said in Parliament on Friday.

“I am not going to be stifled by these bullets, I’ll continue to raise my voice,” he said.

Appealing the government to end hate and radicalisation, Owaisi said: “How did these teens get radicalised? Right-wing communalism and terrorism will increase with teens getting radicalised.”

The UP government is probing the attack on Owaisi’s convoy. Two persons have so far been arrested,” Hapur SP Deepak Bhuker said.

Union Home minister Amit Shah will give a detailed reply on the matter in Parliament next week.
