Puri: Following his arrest for alleged attack on a flying squad, BJD MLA Pradeep Maharathy was produced in Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) here amid tight security on Monday afternoon. However, he fell ill inside the court.
The JFMC court has now referred the hearing to Additional District Sessions Judge Court.
Soon after the arrest of Maharathy, Puri SP Uma Shankar Das had told the media that there was ample evidence against the BJD leader on his complicity in the incident. “Police had elicited vital information from one of the accused detained earlier in the day. On the basis of his statement, police are in the hunt for another accused,” he added.
In a Facebook post, the sitting Pipili MLA had denied his involvement in the incident that took place in his farmhouse on Sunday night.
