Mumbai: The brutal attack on actor Saif Ali Khan in the early hours of Thursday has sent shock waves across Bollywood and Mumbai city.
According to the FIR copy accessed by The Times of India, Eliyama Philip, a 56-year-old nurse employed at Saif and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s residence, stated that the intruder forcibly entered Jeh’s room at around 2 am and demanded Rs 1 crore.
Sharing details of the attacker, the nurse told police that the man was slim and dark-complexioned, apparently in his late 30s. He was carrying a stick and a sharp blade.
When the nurse refused to give in to his demands, she was attacked, and her wrists and hands were injured.
On hearing the commotion, the other nanny, Junu, woke up and raised an alarm, which led Saif to rush to Jeh’s room.
Saif confronted the intruder to protect his family, but the man stabbed him multiple times leaving him wounded and fled before other staff members could corner him.
Joint commissioner Satya Narayan Chaudhary, however, denied the report of attacker demanding ₹1 crore and stated that it was a case of theft.
DCP Zone 9 of Mumbai Police, Dixit Gedam, who is part of the investigating team, said that one accused has been identified.
“It has been discovered that the accused used the fire escape to enter their house. So far, the investigation suggests that it was an attempted burglary. We are making every effort to arrest the accused as soon as possible. Once he is arrested, we will be able to disclose further details. One accused has been identified. He used the staircase to enter, and teams were in the field to arrest him. There are 10 detection teams working in different directions,” he told the press, according to ANI.
Saif underwent emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital, and is out of danger.
