According to reports, Bengaluru police, which had sent its team to Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, made the arrests on Saturday morning and brought the accused to Bengaluru on transit remand.
The accused have already sought for an anticipatory bail, asserting their innocence in connection with Subash’s suicide, reported the Hindustan Times. Subhas’ suicide created a national outrage, triggering debate over the alleged misuse of anti-dowry act. Bengaluru Police booked an FIR, involving Nikita and her family members in the case.
The police investigation revealed that Subhash was fighting a legal battle over divorce and child custody. It has been alleged that the legal battle contributed to his emotional distress. Singhania and her family members had allegedly demanded Rs 3 crore to withdraw cases against Subhash and Rs 30 lakh for visitation rights to see his son. This allegedly pushed Subash into a mental distress and he took the extreme step after recording a video message and leaving behind a 24-page suicide note.
