Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission Set For National Roll-Out; Know More About It

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet, headed by PM Narendra Modi, has approved Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) to be rolled out nationally.

National Health Authority (NHA) will implement the scheme, Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) announced on Saturday.

“The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will be rolled out across the country with a budget of Rs 1600 crore for five years,” CCEA stated.

Under this scheme, citizens will be able to create their ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) numbers, to which their digital health records can be linked. It will enable creation of longitudinal health records for individuals across various healthcare providers, and improve clinical decision-making by healthcare providers, CCEA informed.

A seamless online platform of healthcare ecosystem will be created by collating wide range of data, information and infrastructure services while ensuring privacy of personal information.

ABDM was launched by the PM in September 2021. The scheme’s pilot project was successfully completed in the Union territories of Ladakh, Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.

Over 17.3 crore Ayushman Bharat health accounts have been created in ABDM till February 24, 2022.
