Mumbai: In a rare gesture, Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana has transferred a huge amount of money into the account of ailing veteran actress Savita Bajaj. She has worked both on TV and in films.
Care committee member of Cine & TV Artists Association (CINTAA) Nupur Alankar, has been looking after Savita Bajaj. “Actress Rajeshwari Sachdeva had posted on her Instagram about Savitaji, Ayushmaan called her and transferred the money which was a huge relief for us, as we were able to discharge her from the hospital,” she told ETimes TV.
Jackie Shroff too has transferred money while Sonu Sood has donated an oxygen cylinder since Savita Bajaj has been diagnosed with emphysema (a condition that involves damage to the walls of the air sacs (alveoli of the lung) for which she will need oxygen support.
CINTAA had earlier given medical assistance of Rs. 50,000 and has been giving her a monthly expense of Rs. 5000 for her medicines from the past few years.
“It pained my heart to see Savitaji’s condition. She has been a part of the industry for several years. Today, she needed help and I wanted to be by her side. CINTAA (Cine and TV Artistes’ Association), too, has been at the forefront in helping her. She was in the hospital for around 25 days and I am happy that she has been discharged today. Savitaji lived alone in a one-room kitchen apartment, but I don’t think she can do that now. So, I have decided to bring her home. I am taking her to my sister’s place and all of us will take care of her,” Nupur was quoted as saying. Savita Bajaj has been moved to Nupur’s sister’s home as the hospital is close by from there, the report added.
Savita Bajaj is recuperating now and was quoted as saying, “I am feeling better. Nupur has been like a Godsend to me. She assured me that she would be by my side throughout and kept her word. She visited me at the hospital daily. Nupur and her sister, Jigyaasa, have brought me to their home. It seems like a miracle. Mujhe lagta hai mujhe nayi zindagi mil gayi.”
Savita Bajaj is a celebrated name in both films and television. She has featured in over 50 films and television shows. Nishant, Nazrana and Beta Ho Toh Aisa are just a few titles she has starred in. On TV, we have seen her in shows like Nukkad, Maayka and Kavach, among others.
