Badminton Star PV Sindhu Denies Rift With Family, Coach Pullela Gopichand
New Delhi: World badminton champion P V Sindhu on Tuesday vehemently dismissed reports of her quitting the national training camp for the Olympics and travelling to the United Kingdom due to a family quarrel.
She explained that she has gone to London to work on her “nutrition and recovery needs with GSSI”. She took to Instagram and denied any rift with her family or coach Pullela Gopichand, reported India Today.
“I came to London a few days back to work on my nutrition and recovery needs with GSSI. In fact, I have come here with the consent of my parents and absolutely they were no family rifts in this regard. Why will I have problems/issues with my parents who have sacrificed their lives for my sake,” Sindhu said in her Instagram post.
“Mine is a very close-knitted family and they will always support me. I am in touch with my family members every day. Also, I do not have any issues with my coach Mr. Gopichand or the training facilities at the academy,” her post further read. She also warned a sports reporter with legal action if he did not stop spreading “false” news about her.
Badminton star and Padma Bhushan awardee Sindhu is set to play in the upcoming Thomas and Uber Cup, whose dates are yet to be announced.
