Puri: The 21-day bahara Chandan Yatra ended with the Chaka-Akha Dera ritual of the three chariots on Thursday.
The Chaka-Akha Dera ritual (fixing two wheels and axle of each chariot) is conducted on the occasion of Bhaunri Jatra, the last day of the Bahara Chandan Yatra.
As part of the ritual, the Nahaka Chaka and Nahaka Akha are joined and the installation of this part will help build other portions of the chariots.
Out of the 42 wheels of the three chariots, 20 wheels have been completed, said sources in SJTA.
On the last day of Bahara Chandan Yatra, that started from Akashya Tritiya, the incarnations of the Trinity made 21 circles in the Narendra Pokhari in the specially designed boats before being taken inside.
The festival was held amid Covid restrictions as the administration had imposed Section 144 for keeping the devotees away. Elaborate security arrangement were made with six platoons of force.
After this ritual, the representative deities of the Trinity – Madan Mohan, Bhudevi, Sridevi, Ramakrushna – were taken into the temple where the 21-day Bhitara Chandan Yatra will be held.
