New Delhi: Bahrain has approved Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin for emergency use, the latest foreign country to do so.
The country’s National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) gave permission for the emergency use of Covaxin.
The approval is in line with the Bahrain government’s guidelines under which travellers who have taken a COVID-19 vaccine approved either by it or the World Health Organization (WHO) will not be quarantined upon arrival.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has recognised Serum Institute of India’s Covishield for entry into the country.
According to a statement by the Saudi Tourism Authority, travellers fully vaccinated with Saudi-approved vaccines can enter the country without having to undergo institutional quarantine.
After WHO granted Bharat Biotech’s vaccine emergency use authorisation, the US has also allowed travellers fully vaccinated with Covaxin to enter the country from November 8, when it opened its borders to vaccinated foreigners.
