Puri: Bahuda Yatra concluded in Puri amid gaiety and fervour on Friday as the three chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra reached Simhadwar of the Jagannath Temple about two hours ahead of the schedule.
After the deities were placed atop the chariots, Gajapati Maharaja performed the ‘chhera panhara’ rituals. Later, the sevayats removed the ‘charamala’ (ladder made from the logs of palm tree) and pulling of the chariots began at 1.15 am, about two hours and 45 minutes ahead of the schedule.
Elaborate security arrangements were made to ensure smooth conduct of the festival.
Suna Besha (golden attire) of the deities will be held on Saturday while the sevayats will perform ‘Aadhara Pana’ ritual on Sunday. The deities will be taken on pahandi to Ratna Simhasan (sanctum sanctorum) on Monday.
