Bahuda Yatra In Pictures: Lord Jagannath & Siblings Begin Homeward Journey

Puri: The Triad began their journey back to Jagannath Temple with Taladhwaja of Lord Balabhadra leading the way on the Bada Danda (Grand Road) in Odisha’s Puri.

The Lords had been on a nine-day annual sojourn at Gundicha Temple, the place of their birth. The temple was decked up with flowers to bid adieu to the sibling deities.

The Pahandi (procession) ritual of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Sudarshan during which they were taken atop their respective chariots from the inner sanctum of Gundicha Temple concluded around 10 am, ahead of the schedule.

The pulling of the chariots began around 12.30 pm amid chants of ‘Hari Bol’, blowing of conch shells and beating of cymbals after Puri Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb performed Chhera Panhara, the ceremonial sweeping of the three chariot floors with a golden broom.

Like the previous year, Bahuda Yatra of the Lord is being held with public participation and by following the COVID protocol.
