Bhubaneswar: The BJD on Saturday wrote to Odisha chief electoral officer Surendra Kumar alleging “distribution of cash among voters” by four associates of Baijayant Panda, BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Kendrapara.
The party has asked the Election Commission to take “strict and immediate” action. It suggested placing the four associates and their cellphones under surveillance or even removing them from Kendrapara Lok Sabha seat.
Deepak Panda, Jyoti Ghose, Biswajit and AK Das are operating from their office at Baula Vihar in Kendrapara, the BJD alleged. If the four associates are not arrested, the BJP MP candidate will use them to distribute cash and influence voters in the constituency, the BJD delegation added.
Polling in the remaining six parliamentary constituencies, including Kendrapara, and 42 Assembly seats in Odisha will take place on April 29.
