Bajaj on Tuesday pulled the covers off its much-awaited electric scooter – Chetak. The iconic name is now a fully electric scooter. Bajaj will be selling electric scooters under a new sub-brand – ‘Urbanite’. Keeping up with the retro design, the Bajaj Chetak Electric scooter gets A LED headlight, a strip of LED daytime running lights, and has 12-inch cast alloy wheels at both ends.
It has been launched in 2 variants. Here are the prices after subsidies:
Urbane Rs 1,00,000
Premium Rs 1,15,000
It is powered by 3kWh (48V, 60.3 AH) lithium battery and has a 50,000 km or 3-year warranty. The battery pack is IP67-rated. It is not swappable and can be recharged using a standard household 15 A power socket. The Chetak is equipped with regenerative braking as well. There is a reverse mode too.
The motor produces 16Nm of torque.
Charging time: 5 hours – 100%, 1 hour: 25%
Bajaj claims the battery will have a range of 95+ km and has a life of about 70,000 km. The company provides a complimentary charger with the scooter.
Like other electric vehicles, the Bajaj Chetak has connected tech that lets customers check charge status, remaining range, location and even notify unauthorised usage.
Bookings will start from Wednesday and will be done completely online. The Chetak will be displayed at KTM dealerships.
Service interval is once a year or after 12,000 km.
