Inspiring Tale Of Odia Martyr Baji Rout Captured On Celluloid
Baji – The Immortal Boat Boy is a short film about an 11-year-old boy who created history by defying the British. This young lad from a remote village in Odisha inspired people in other parts of the country to fearlessly participate in the freedom struggle. His short but very inspiring life tells stories of courage and valour.
This film has been directed by Chinmoy Das, a young filmmaker who believes the content should act like a catalyst in the audience‘s mind and engage them in a positive sense. Team Xzibit, a group of young professionals who want to make a mark in the creative genre, have got together again to bring back a timeless story, which continues to hold good for the next generation.
This movie has been produced by Prelude, a media production house.
The film has been shot in scenic rural locales of Odisha. It is in its post- production stage now and will be released in October, which is the month in which Baji Rout was born as well as martyred.
Director, Prelude Productions, Satyabrat Sanu Ratho said, ‘’We are happy to be part of the original content, especially when it has its roots in our own history and culture. We also want to encourage young and talented filmmakers, actors and technicians to create refreshing and inspiring cinema in Odisha.’’
Talking about his experience, Chinmay Das said the team has worked tirelessly to bring in the story of a real legend, and to ensure that the story is the hero of the movie.
