Break The Chain: Ban On Morning Walk, Cycling During Lockdown In Bhubaneswar & Cuttack
Bhubaneswar: With an aim to break the COVID transmission chain and bring the cases under control, the Commissionerate Police on Thursday imposed stricter regulations in the Twin Cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
Twin City Police Commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi today announced a ban on morning, evening walks and even cycling during the lockdown period.
Further, to break the COVID chain the CP restricted pillion riding and those caught violating the rules will be dealt with strictly.
On the other hand, only three persons, including driver, will be allowed in four-wheelers, the CP said.
On Thursday, police caught hundreds of people for moving on the roads without valid reason. Police opened 50 check-posts in the city to check the violations, said DCP Bhubaneswar Umashankar Dash.
Stating that over 1,500 police personnel are working at the check-posts as hospitals by putting their lives at stake, Dash requested people to stay home and stay safe so that police can concentrate on their duties
In the last 15 days, one lakh people were caught for COVID guidelines violations, said ADG (L&O) Y K Jethwa. As many as 71 cases have been registered, 271 violators arrested and Rs 2.8 lakh was collected as fine from them.
