Ulunda Bandh: Normal Life Hit
Sambalpur: Normal life came to a standstill in Ulunda, Sambalpur district, on Monday following a 12-hour bandh call by Ulunda Yuva Sangathan in protest against the poor state of public healthcare system in the area.
Almost all shops, markets and other business establishments remained shut and vehicular movement was also hit by the bandh. The agitators held demonstrations and caused road blockades at various places. Locals and traders supported the bandh.
“Shortage of doctors at Ulunda hospital has severely affected healthcare services in the locality. We have, repeatedly, appraised the district administration about the shortage of doctors but no steps have been taken to improve the situation,” one of the protestors rued.
