Bangladesh Unrest: Stranded Odia Workers To Be Evacuated Soon, Says Odisha Minister
Bhubaneswar: Labour & Employees State Insurance Minister Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia on Monday said the workers from Odisha who were left behind in Bangladesh, which is steering through tumultuous times, will soon return to their home state.
“The state government is concerned about the situation in the neighboring country,” he said, responding to reporters about crimes committed against Hindus in Bangladesh.
The Chief Minister has called a meeting to address the issue and create a plan for the repatriation of Odia workers from the nation.
He stated that a list of workers who formally relocated from Odisha to Bangladesh is being prepared by the districts (labour authority). Following a review of the this database, more measures will be implemented.
“After speaking with district officials, the matter will be put forth before the CM within two weeks. After consulting with Bangladeshi authorities, we will facilitate homecoming of workers whose records are missing,” Singkhuntia said.
