Bank Agent Murder: Hunt On For The Love-Struck ‘Killer’ Doctor
Berhampur: Police have launched a massive manhunt to trace a doctor in connection with the brutal murder of a bank agent, whose body was exhumed from a secluded place in Badagumula area near Ambapua on the outskirts of Berhampur on Wednesday.
According to police, the deceased Bishnu Prasad Gouda, an agent of the HDFC Bank and a native of Chikilika village under Khallikote police limits in Ganjam district, was in love with a nurse who works at the Gayatri Clinic of Dr Hrushikesh Tripathy. The doctor was also in love with the nurse.
On August 18, Bishnu went to the house of the nurse. When he did not return to village, his wife Narmada later lodged a complaint with Baidyanathpur Police. Acting on the complaint, police had begun an investigation.
While the investigation was underway, an anonymous caller on September 9 informed Narmada and her brother on their mobile phone confirming the murder of Bishnu and requested them to come to the Gayatri Clinic and inquire about the matter. The caller also gave them the name of one Behera and said he is one of the accused who knows the details.
Soon after receiving the call, Narmada informed the police who went to the clinic and interrogated Gangadhar Behera, who works as an assistant in the clinic of Dr Tripathy. During interrogation, Behera revealed the incident in detail. He said after killing Bishnu inside the clinic, Dr Tripathy cut his body into three pieces and put it inside a sack. “Later, he took me and his other associate in a car with the body and drove to Badagumula. After reaching there, I dug a pit. The body was buried after the doctor put some chemicals in the pit,” Behera said.
“Circumstantial evidence clearly states that the murder was the outcome of a triangular love. We are not going to disclose it to the media in detail since the investigation is underway. We will nab the absconding doctor very soon,” Additional SP (Berhampur) Santanu Das told mediapersons.
