Bank Robbers Strike Twice In One Day In Angul
Angul: In a span of 24 hours, Odisha’s Angul district has reported two bank robberies.
Unidentified miscreants decamped with cash from the strong room of Bantala State Bank of India (SBI) in Angul district late on Friday.
According to available information, the miscreants entered the bank by breaking open the window when Nor’wester struck the area. The robbers then emptied the cash counter and attempted to break the strong room’s iron chest. They fled the spot immediately after the siren of the bank went off.
The bank officials said that Rs 40, 000 to 50, 000 in cash was kept in the iron chest. The exact amount looted by the criminals is yet to be ascertained, the officials added.
Earlier in the day, a group of six armed men had looted over Rs 23 lakh and gold ornaments at gunpoint from a branch of Andhra Bank at Bazaar Chhak in Angul Town around 10:30 am.
Similarly, 200 gold packets and Rs 80, 000 in cash was also looted from Odisha Gramya Bank Sarangadharpur in Nayagarh district the same day.
The police are yet to find any clue pertaining to the gangs involved in these robberies.
