Cuttack: The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) is working in full swing to decorate the Barabati Stadium here ahead of the one-day international (ODI) match between India and West Indies on December 22.
According to OCA secretary Sanjay Behera, the roads leading to the stadium will be decorated in an unprecedented manner. Branding will be done in the main road from Jobra Anicut square to Barabati Stadium. Colourful pictures and lights will be put up on both sides of the main road to add to the beautification.
Inside the stadium, the Clock Tower will be paved with new tiles and the clock will be painted in golden colour. Besides, three new clocks will be installed in the tower in each direction.
Besides, colourful lights will decorate each floor and a focus light will be installed to give the stadium an attractive look at night.
A vertical garden with natural plants to cover all three floors of the OCA building will be another attraction of the stadium.
“After the garden is completed, it will look like as if it is growing out of a wall. We have come up with this idea of a vertical garden to send out a message for green environment,” the OCA secretary said.
Besides many trees will be planted outside the OCA gate and the stadium will be decorated with myriad flowers, he added. Also, a red carpet will be laid out in front of the OCA building to welcome the players.
The entire stadium will sport a blue colour and the walls will showcase the art, culture and temples of Odisha. “We will paint the art and culture of Odisha on the walls to spread it at an international-level,” said Behera..
“Hope the new look of Barabati stadium will give a thrilling experience to the spectators,” he said.
OCA sources said the decoration works are underway in association with some expert organisations of outside Odisha.
