Bargarh: Members of the Bargarh Bus Owners’ Association on Tuesday opposed the Bargarh Municipal Corporation’s move to construct a market complex in place of bus stand.
“It is unfortunate that the officials of the Municipal Corporation have started construction work for a market complex near the Old bus stand by utilising funds sanctioned by the state government for establishment of a new bus stand at the place earmarked for it. This will not only lead to road congestion and traffic jam, it will also create a lot of difficulties for the bus passengers,” said advisor of the association Debadatta Mishra.
The agitators took out a huge rally from the bus stand and reached the additional collector Tathiram Majhi’s office where they handed over a memorandum demanding that the construction work for the market complex be stopped immediately.
“The bus owners have submitted their representation. The officials have been instructed to visit the spot and take stock of the situation. Further action will be taken after holding discussions with the Municipal Corporation officials,” the additional collector informed.
