Bhubaneswar: To ensure strictly implementation of the COVID-19 lockdown to contain the spread of the infection, the Commissionerate Police have put up barricades at major traffic junctions and deployed police personnel across the city.
Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahoo said that these steps have been taken to ensure non-essential movement of people during the lockdown period. “Vehicular movements are being strictly monitored,” he added.
Emergency workers like doctors, nurses, health workers, bankers, government officials and the media will be allowed to commute freely on showing ID cards, the DCP said.
The Odisha DGP, on Tuesday, had asked cops to ensure free movement of healthcare providers engaged in the fight against the COVID-19 during the lockdown.
Persons, who have trade licence copies, can ferry their goods to ensure supply chain in the market, the DCP added.
