New Delhi: A dispute over the spilling of beer at a nightclub in northwest Delhi turned deadly with bouncers and waiters clubbing a man to death.

Preliminary probe has revealed that Daljeet (29) had visited the nightclub with his friends late on Saturday. Trouble erupted after one of his friends spilled beer on a woman.

Bouncers of the joint, under the Sarai Rohilla police station area, soon got into the act and started assaulting Daljeet and his friends. The attack continued despite the group apologising, as reported by PTI.

Waiters at the club soon joined in, beating Daljeet and his friends with sticks and glass bottles. When they tried to escape, the attackers allegedly dragged them back inside and assaulted them again. Daljeet sustained the most serious injuries.

His friends allegedly took him to his residence in Raghuvir Nagar, where he collapsed near the entrance. He was then rushed to Guru Gobind Singh Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Daljeet is survived by his wife, eight-year-old son and father.

Some persons have been arrested in this connection and the police are making efforts to identify and apprehend the other accused.

The authorities have seized the nightclub’s CCTV digital video recorder and are examining the footage to establish the sequence of events and identify those involved.
