Kharagpur: Creating a controversy much to the delight of opponents, West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh on Tuesday said the “worsening law and order situation” in West Bengal was similar to “mafia-ruled states” like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
“West Bengal is slipping into a mafia-raj like the situation in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The way a councilor was shot dead in front of a police station by using a sten gun is shameful,” Ghosh told the media following the murder of BJP leader Manish Shukla at Titagarg in North 24 Parganas district.
Responding to Ghosh’s statement, ruling Trinamool Congress leader and minister Firhad Hakim said, “It is good that he has accepted that mafia raj exists in BJP-ruled UP and Bihar. We are happy that at least for once, he has spoken the truth.”
