Bengal Youth Held For ‘Eloping’ With Minor Girl From Odisha’s Nuapada

Nuapada: A youth from Malda in West Bengal has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl, whom he had befriended on Facebook, from Singpur village under Beltukuri police limits in Nuapada district.

The accused, identified as Mohammed Amatarul, was apprehended by police while fleeing the village with the girl on Tuesday.

According to sources, the duo had fallen in love after meeting each other online about six months ago. Amatarul had asked the girl to meet him in person on January 12. However, locals spotted him eloping with the girl and informed police.

Initially, the youth was detained on the basis of a complaint lodged by the minor girl’s father. He confessed to the crime during interrogation and was later arrested.
