Bengaluru Police Appeal To Odisha Workers Not To Leave, But Resume Work

Bhubaneswar: As restless migrant workers queue up to register themselves for a trip back home, amid the nationwide lockdown, Bengaluru Police have appealed to the Odia people there not to leave the city and resume work.

Bengaluru Commissioner of Police Bhaskar Rao assured stranded workers from Odisha that the Karnataka Government is committed to take care of them and they will be safe.

“Stay here and resume work. I urge everyone not to panic. We will provide all of you the best services here,” Rao said.

He sought to calm them by saying that the Odia workers may get in touch with Bengaluru Police if they face any issues.

“If required, contact the nearest police station for assistance. The CM has directed all police and administrative officials to take care of labour class and ensure proper food and accommodation for them,” Rao stressed.

The police commissioner said that Karnakata chief minister BS Yediyurappa has assured his Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik that Karnataka will look after Odia migrant workers who are stuck in various places.

“During discussion with Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa has committed to provide all sorts of assistance to Odia people in Karnataka,” the IPS officer told in the message adding, “Don’t panic. Both Centre and State Government are with you. We are trying to reach out all the workers stranded here during the situation.”
