Bhubaneswar: Taking a lift from strangers near Satsang Vihar in Bhubaneswar proved costly for a Bengaluru returnee, who was sedated and then robbed of Rs 75,000.
The incident, which took place on February 1, came to light after the victim, Dhiren Parida, lodged a complaint with Saheed Nagar police in this connection.
A resident of Rajkanika block in Kendrapada district, he alleged that a four-wheeler stopped and the driver offered him a lift while he was waiting to board a vehicle to his hometown. The driver picked a few more people on the way and they offered him a beverage mixed with sedatives midway. When Dhiren lost his consciousness, the miscreants looted Rs 75,000 cash from his bag. On regaining consciousness, he found himself near Chhatia.
