Bengaluru: The IT city of Bengaluru reported over 5,000 new COVID-19 positive cases for the third consecutive day.

The 5,121 cases reported in last 24 hours made it the highest in a day for any city in India. The Karnataka capital has seen a total of 2.67 lakh cases, with a little more than 2 lakh recoveries and 3,234 deaths so far. There are 18 active containment zones in the city.

Testing has been increased, with 1.05 lakh people being tested on Thursday, of which 51K were rapid antigen ones. Till now, over 56.29 lakh samples have been tested in Bengaluru.

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has asked health officials to ramp up RT-PCR tests as rapid antigen kits are failing in accuracy levels.

Mumbai recorded 2,823 cases on Thursday, while Delhi saw 2,726 fresh cases. Delhi conducted a little over 50K tests on Thursday.
