Berhampur: Dr Chandan Gantayat of MKCG Medical College and Hospital, here has bagged ‘Doctor Sur Samrat’ award created by Lupin India.
Dr Gantayat, Assistant Professor in Department of Medicine of the medical college, was one of 1430 doctors who submitted their songs in the on-line competition during first week of this month. Around 3,000 doctors had registered their names.
Eminent Bollywood singer Shaan was the adjudicator. “I had a tough time to select the winner from the 10 finalists who sing like professionals,” said Shaan in YouTube. It was the first edition of ‘Doctor Sur Samrat’ award.
Dr Gantayat has already recorded two cassettes including ‘Namami Ramam’ and ‘Bhaba Sindhu’ under the banner of Sarthak Music. He has performed on stage in different parts of the state and is very popular in social media.
Though it was my childhood dream to become a doctor, I always enjoyed singing and was inspired by my mother Sharmila Samantaray, said Dr Gantayat.
