New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday conferred the Outstanding Parliamentarian Award on BJD leader and Lok Sabha MP Bhartruhari Mahtab for the year 2017.
Besides, the President also felicitated four other MPs, who were adjudged as outstanding parliamentarians in the previous years.
While Trinamool Congress member of the Lok Sabha Dinesh Trivedi received the award for 2016 and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad (Congress) for 2015, Lok Sabha member Hukumdev Narayan Yadav (BJP) and former Rajya Sabha member Najma Heptulla (BJP) received the award for the 2014 and 2013 respectively.
The names were shortlisted by a committee headed by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
The Outstanding Parliamentarian Award was established in 1992 by the then Lok Sabha Speaker Shivraj Patil.
