Bhubaneswar: The Air India on Tuesday announced that it will start direct flights from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here to Bangkok from December 10.
In a tweet message, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “Air India direct flights from Bhubaneswar to Bangkok will make Odisha the new gateway to the East. Bolstering Odisha’s position as new gateway to the East, Air India announced direct flights from Bhubaneswar to Bangkok starting Dec 10. Expansion of international air connectivity will give huge boost to tourism, trade & ties with Southeast Asian countries.”

The passengers can avail direct flight services twice a week – Sunday and Thursday. The flights will leave for Bangkok from BPIA at 3:45 pm on these days, sources said.
The only other direct international flight from Bhubaneswar is to Kuala Lumpur and it is operated by Air Asia.
