Bhubaneswar: The AirAsia has decided to start direct flight to Bangkok from Bhubaneswar on December 6 after obtaining permission from the Director General Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Sources in the AirAsia said that the booking will start this week.
The AirAsia will engage 180-seater Aircraft-320, which will fly thrice in a week from both directions. Bhubaneswar-Bangkok flight will be available every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and Bangkok-Bhubaneswar flight on every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
According to the flight schedule, the FD113 flight will leave Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar at 12.25 am and reach Don Mueang airport in Bangkok at 4.30 am. Similarly, the FD112 flight will leave the Don Mueang airport at 10.35 pm and arrive at the Biju Patnaik International Airport at 11.55 pm.
The AirAsia authorities have made it clear that they would not claim any subsidy from the Odisha government. The company while taking subsidy @Rs 1 lakh for each flight to Kuala Lumpur had made a condition with the state government that it will launch another international flight without any subsidy.
It may be recalled that the Air India had launched a direct flight to Bangkok from Bhubaneswar on December 10 last year. However, it cancelled the flight on July 16.
