Bhubaneswar Boy Tops JEE-Main In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Deevyanshu Malu of Bhubaneswar has topped session 2 of Joint Entrance Examination-Main (JEE-Main) 2022 in Odisha.

Deevyanshu has secured 99.999 percentile in the examination, the results of which were declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday. He had appeared for session-I of the test, conducted in two sessions in June and July. His twin brother, Deeptanshu, secured 99.937 percentile.

As part of the test, Paper-I is meant for admission to BTech and BE courses in IITs, NITs and Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), sources said. The top 2.6 lakh candidates in JEE-Mains Paper I will be eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced examination for admission into the 23 premier IITs.

Joyed over his performance, Deevyanshu said he is keen to study computer science for which he will work hard to get a good rank in JEE-Advanced examination. “My aim is to get a seat in IIT,” he told TOI, adding that IIT Bombay happens to be his favourite.

Stating that he was appearing for mock tests regularly, he said he also referred to the questions of previous years during his rigorous preparation. While answering, he attempted the questions of physics, chemistry and mathematics in sequence.

One hour was given for physics, 40 minutes for chemistry and 80 minutes for mathematics, said Deevyanshu, who recently won a gold medal in an International Physics Olympiad conducted in Mumbai by a Swiss organisation.

His mother, who is an engineer, taught both her sons, who are students of KIIT International School in Bhubaneswar.

Deevyanshu scored 100 per cent in physics, chemistry and mathematics in CBSE Class XII board examinations, his father Chandan Malu said.

Among female students, Sthiti Padhi topped the state with 99.903 percentile. Altogether 24 students from different states scored 100 percentile in the examination, which was conducted from July 25 to July 30.

The NTA scores for Paper 2 meant for BArch and BPharmacy will be declared separately, according to sources.
