Bhubaneswar: For early diagnosis and treatment for any COVID-19-related symptoms, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday began household surveillance in slums at Ward 35 and 37 here.
It is part of the ongoing surveillance and all slums in the city will be covered, BMC sources said.
The survey teams comprising one Anganwadi worker, ASHA and MAS (Manhila Arogya Samiti) member will visit all household under 370 Anganwadi centres, thrice. They will report for prompt treatment of cases having symptoms like soar throat, cough, cold and fever and also about any travel history in the families covered by them.
They will then deposit the details to CDPO and these will be compiled at ADUPHO (Additional District Urban Public Health Officer ) level heading city health programme of NHM in BMC area.
The survey team will be provided with personal protection like hand gloves, mask, sanitizer and pass for field activities.
“About 1000 personnel comprising AWW, ASHHA and MAS members will be participating in the surveillance. The orientation of health workers and CDPOs has already been done with guidance of ADUPHO, CHO and CDPO,” said DC Sanitation Suvendu Kumar Sahoo.
