Bhubaneswar Hottest In Odisha At 39.4 Degree C
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha capital continued to sizzle for the second consecutive day on Saturday with the mercury soaring further to 39.4 degree Celsius. The city had recorded 39 degree Celsius the previous day.
In 2016, Bhubaneswar had recorded a maximum temperature of 40.9°C, the highest in February since 1963.
According to Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, evening bulletin, Malkangiri was close second at 39.2 degree Celsius. Cuttack too was in the grip of grueling heat at 37.2 degree Celsius.
The other places where temperature soared above 35 degree Celsius are Bhawanipatna (37), Balangir (36.2), Angul (36.1), Balasore (35.4), Jharsuguda (35.2), Sonepur (35) and Sambalpur (35).
The temperature is likely to remain above normal by 4 to 5 degree during the next 48 hours, it further said.
On the other hand, one or two places in Jharsuguda and Mayurbhanj districts received rain under the influence of a cyclonic circulation which moved north-eastwards from Bangladesh and now lies over eastern parts of Bihar and adjoining Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.
In addition, light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Deogarh, Sundaargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Balangir, Ganjam, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts, the release added.
