Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha rose to 8,062 on Tuesday with seven more patients succumbing to the disease in the last 24 hours.
The deceased were identified as:
1. A 75 years old female of Angul district who was also suffering from Hypertension.
2. A 60 years old male of Angul district.
3. A 64 years old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Carcinoma in Buccal mucosa & Hypertension.
4. A 85 years old female of Cuttack district.
5. A 47 years old female of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
6. A 67 years old male of Khurda district.
7. A 47 years old male of Puri district who was also suffering from Hypertension & Chronic Kidney Disease.
The state had reported eight deaths on Monday and seven on Sunday.
Earlier, the state government announced the end of the audit of backlog deaths, which had gone up during the peak of the pandemic.
Odisha has reported 6,186 COVID deaths in the second wave as against 1,876 the previous year.
Around 6,000 fatalities were added in the last four months. August saw around 66 deaths a day, on an average, while it was 61 in July and 42 in June.
Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered last month, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June (1,272) and May (737), Health Department sources said.
Notably, the second wave of the pandemic has claimed the lives of 39 children and adolescents in Odisha. As many as 13 of these deaths were reported between August 10 and 31.
