Bhubaneswar: In a step towards a hunger-free and beggar-free Odisha, BJP leader and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi on Thursday launched Annapurna.
Speaking at the inaugural function Sarangi said zero hunger solution is the aim of Annapurna. Feasible solution of sustainable livelihood initiative for the hungry people of Odisha is its ultimate goal, she added.
The project was functional for the last one month on a trail run basis in Bhubaneswar. Presently, cooked food is prepared in hygienic way and provided to 200 poor and hungry people of Bhubaneswar who sleep on empty stomach due to poverty and want of food.
As per a preliminary survey conducted by the organisation to identify the hungry people who are without food during lunch time. These people were identified mostly near railway stations, bus stands, temples and market places. The expenditure and arrangement of the feeding programme is managed by partner organisations.
Sarangi is the Chief Advisor of the food programme. The partner organisations are Rotary International District 3262, So Am I Foundation Trust, Umesh Khandelwal Trust, Youth For Action Trust & Art of Living Foundation.
Among others, Rotarian Saumya Ranjan Mishra (DG Rotary District 3262), Rtn P.K.Miishra, Rtn. Bimbadhar Behera, Sri Pinaki Mohanty, Dr Chidatmika Khatua of So Am I Foundation, Umesh Khandelwal of Umesh Khandelwal Foundation, Debasis Nayak of Youth For Action Trust, Bholanath Jena of Art of Living Foundation, Sasanka Sekhar Sahu, \Managing Trustee and Ashok Pattanaik representative of Bhubaneswar MP besides the representatives of AJITA Trust were present during the launch ceremony.
