Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi on Sunday castigated the state government for lack of progress in renovation work of Laxmisagar fisheries pond in the city.
Speaking to media persons here, the BJP leader said chief minister Naveen Patnaik had laid the foundation stone of the project with an estimated cost of Rs 6.69 crore in 2016. But no perceptible work of the project has been taken up till date, she added.
The MP said after the local people of Laxmisagar complained to her about the project, she personally visited the area to take stock of the situation. “I was shocked to see that besides the foundation stone, no work has been done for renovation of the pond,” she added.
She demanded a clarification from the government about the status quo of the project. “Over Rs 6 crore sanctioned for the project is a big amount. If the money has been spent in the work, I want to know on which heads it has been used. If there has been no progress in the work, the government must explain the reasons for it,” the MP said.
