Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha touched 1973 with eight more patients succumbing to the virus in the last 24 hours.
According to Health department sources, two deaths each have been reported from Kalahandi and Ganjam and one each from Balasore, Balangir, Kandhamal, and Khurda districts.
The deceased have been identified as:
1.A 38 years old woman of Balasore district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
2.A 50 years old man of Balangir district.
3.A 59 years old man of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
4.A 75 years old woman of Ganjam district.
5.A 50 years old man of Ganjam district.
6.A 42 years old woman of Kandhamal district.
7.A 56 years old man of Kalahandi district.
8.A 45 years old woman of Kalahandi district.
The state had seen seven fatalities the previous day.

The state also saw the biggest spike of 6,215 new positive cases in the last 24 hours. Khurda reported the highest of 950 fresh infections followed by Sundargarh (684), Kalahandi (682), Nuapada (446), Cuttack (383), Puri (306), Bargarh (268), Sambalpur (263), Jharsuguda (261), Nabarangpur (257), Balangir (211), Keonjhar (157) and Mayurbhanj (115).
