Bhubaneswar Receives Highest Rainfall, More Showers In 8 Odisha Dists Today

Bhubaneswar: While most parts of Odisha received widespread rainfall on Tuesday, the Indian Meteorological Department on Tuesday predicted more rainfall in the next 24 hours.

According to the morning weather bulletin, the rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours till 8.30 am on Wednesday was highest in Bhubaneswar with 78.2 mm followed by Bhawanipatna (35), Sambalpur (26), Balasore (21), Paradip (21), Talcher (21), Cuttack (19.4), Angul (19), Keonjhar (14.2), Hirakud (13.5), Daringibadi (13), Titlagarh (9), Nayagarh (8.2), Puri (9), Koraput (7), Phulbani (6.8), Chandbali (6.2), Baripada (5), Gopalpur (4.7), Jharsuguda (3.5) and Chhatrapur (3).

The duty officer of the Bhubaneswar Met Centre, Radhanath Behera, said that there will be thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rainfall with gusty winds reaching speed of 30-40 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur between 12.30 pm and 3.30 pm on Wednesday.

Following the rainfall, the minimum night temperature in the state will fall by 2-3 degree Celsius while the maximum temperature will be below normal by 3-5 degree Celsius, he pointed out.

“The weather condition in the state will improve from Wednesday evening as the cyclonic circulation over south Chhattisgarh and neighbourhood has become less marked,” he added.

The IMD has also warned of dense fog at one or two places over the north coastal districts of Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh and Kandhamal on Wednesday, Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Kandhamal and Kalahandi on Thursday and Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Balangir on Friday.
