Bhubaneswar: Amid the prevailing sultry weather conditions, the humidity levels soared to 81.8% in Odisha’s capital Bhubaneswar by 8.30 am on Monday.
The city recorded 32°C. “Although the temperature is normal, the high humidity has increased the level of discomfort,” senior meteorologist Umasankar Das posted on X, along with humidity experienced in the city in the last nine days.

Hot and humid weather made a fierce comeback in the state after the progress of southwest monsoon was stalled on May 29 due to intrusion of dry air from the western and northwestern parts of the country. The monsoon had reached Odisha on May 28, almost two weeks ahead of its usual date of June 12.
Formation of a cyclonic circulation over southeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal, which is likely to intensify into a low-pressure area over the next few days, has renewed hope for its further progress.
While hot and humid weather conditions may continue to prevail at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati districts during the next 24 hours, the IMD has forecast light/moderate rainfall at isolated/some places accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds speed reaching 40-50 kmph in Odisha till June 12.
