Bhubaneswar Sanitary Inspectors Get Walkie-Talkies For Effective Monitoring

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has distributed walkie-talkies to sanitary inspectors for effective and efficient monitoring of sanitation work in the city.

Now, sanitation monitoring will be more effective and efficient as Sanitary Inspectors of the civic body will use walkie-talkie to communicate, according to a BMC official.

Senior officials can also monitor and get the work done in real time with this device.

Walkie talkie can provide several benefits including location tracking, private and group push-to-talk, emergency calling and alerts, and wifi connectivity, said the official.

To begin with, the BMC has procured around 100 walkie talkies at a cost of over Rs 32 lakh in the first phase.

The BMC is taking several unique developmental efforts to improve sanitation, living condition, aesthetics and beauty of the city.

After implementing night sweeping successfully in Ward 40, the civic body has planned to extend the initiative to other wards of the city in phases by August for better sanitation.

As part of the civic body’s initiative to improve sanitation in the city, senior officials including BMC Commissioner are visiting different wards to take stock of the door-to-door segregated waste collection.

They are also interacting with the community and urging them to segregate the waste for disposal.
