Bhubaneswar: The mercury soared to 40 degree Celsius again in Bhubaneswar, making it the hottest place along with Baripada in Odisha on Sunday.
On March 6, the temperature in the Odisha capital had shot up to 40.4°C.
According to the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), nine other places in the state recorded above 38 degree Celsius. They are Angul (39.7°C), Cuttack (39.6°C), Malkangiri (39°C), Nayagarh (39°C), Boudh (39°C), Talcher (38.8°C), Titlagarh (38.5°C), Balagir (38.4°C) and Sonepur (38.2°C).
The maximum temperature is likely to remain 2-3°C above normal at a few places during the next 4-5 days.
The Met office has also forecast light to moderate rain or thundershower at one or two places in Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul and Mayurbhanj districts till 8.30 am on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, a similar weather condition is likely to prevail at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal and Boudh.
The following day (Thursday), light to moderate rain or thundershower is expected at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts.
