Bhubaneswar To Have 2nd Food Zone Soon; Know The Location
Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is all set to open second food zone in Odisha capital.
The BMC took the decision in this regard considering the popularity of food zone, ‘Khao Gali, near Ram Mandir in the city. It has already identified the government land near CRP Square.
The second food zone will have 50 stalls and will come up with a budget of Rs 85 lakh. Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das and MLA Tushar Das laid the foundation stone of the food zone on Saturday. It has been targeted to be completed in 3 months.
Speaking to the media, the mayor said since there is enough space in the identified piece of land, it would be ideal for opening a number of food stalls. Though it is located adjacent to a main road, there will be no traffic congestion as the customers can park their vehicles and have the food ordered from the stalls in the open area, she added.
As CRP square is strategically located, there is a heavy demand for all types of food including snacks, Chinese, bakery products and fast food at the location. But the makeshift stalls on roadside are posing traffic congestion. Considering this, the BMC has planned the food zone, she said.
The local corporator said the food zone will benefit the roadside and temporary shop owners and local food vendors as preference would be given to them in allotment of stalls. It would enable them to have a pucca structure to carry on their business, she added.
According to sources, the BMC plans to open food zone in each of its three zones in the capital city.
