Bhubaneswar: With 47% of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan’s (SOA) students being girls and women comprising 51% of its workforce, the Deemed to be University has been trying to provide a boost to women’s empowerment in Odisha, SOA vice-president Saswati Das said.
Addressing a special programme organised to mark International Women’s Day (IWD), Das said women have been making their presence felt strongly in out society.
Congratulating the women for serving the university, she said they had made a mark by dint of their determination and hard work.
Referring to this year’s theme for IWD — ‘Digital: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality’ — Das said women are proving themselves in every field, including digital technology, and making notable contributions to various innovations and discoveries.
Others who addressed the gathering included SOA’s Controller of Examination Prof. Manjula Das, Dean of Institute of Dental Sciences Prof. (Dr) Neeta Mohanty and Gayatribala Panda, Head of Centre for Preservation, Propagation & Restoration of Ancient Culture and Heritage of India (PPRACHIN), SOA’s arm for preservation and restoration of ancient heritage and culture.
Eight women employees of SOA and three others serving its media wings were felicitated on the occasion. They are Mamuni Mohanty, Housekeeping Attendant; Jayanti Behera, Housekeeping Assistant, Sunandini Mohapatra, Pharmacist; Pranati Behera, Assistant Nursing Superintendent; Manasi Jena, Deputy Nursing Superintendent; Subhrasima Mohanty, Junior Programme Coordinator of SOA Radio 90.4; Sipra Mohanty, Executive; Monalisa Barik, Executive Trainee, Public Relations Department.
Samiksha Patnaik, Senior Reporter of News7, Pratibha Priyadarshini, Senior Content Editor of Prameya and News7 Digital, and Sasmita Malla, Reporter of Prameya were also felicitated.
