Bhubaneswar: The Utkal University in Bhubaneswar has introduced stringent new guidelines to enforce discipline and ensure a safe, conducive academic environment on its campus.
The varsity authorities have made it mandatory for all students to carry a valid identity card while on the premises. Security personnel have been authorised
to conduct random checks of ID cards at any time.
According to a university official, anyone found without a valid ID card or without a legitimate reason for being on campus will be classified as an “unauthorised person” and immediately handed over to the police. The campus has also been designated a “zero tolerance” zone for tobacco products, intoxicants, and e-cigarettes. Violators will face severe disciplinary action.
Additionally, the guidelines prohibit unauthorised loitering and any behaviour that disrupts the academic atmosphere or creates indiscipline.
University officials emphasised that maintaining a focused study environment is a priority, and strict measures will be taken against those who violate the rules.
