Biggest Drug Bust: Cocaine Worth Rs 2,000 Crore Seized In Delhi; Afghans Running International Syndicate?
New Delhi: In what is being considered to be the biggest drug bust, Delhi police on Wednesday seized over 560 kg of cocaine worth nearly Rs 2,000 crore.
Four persons have been arrested after the drugs were found in south Delhi’s Mehrauli.
Police suspect the arrested quartet to be part of an international drug syndicate that was being run by Afghan nationals in the Indian capital. They had planned to sell the cocaine in Delhi and National Capital Region.
The Special Cell team of Delhi Police had been pursuing a tip-off for two months before finding success just ahead of the festive season.

Last Saturday, two other Afghan nationals were arrested following a raid in Tilak Nagar for allegedly running a drug syndicate. Police recovered 400 grams of heroin and 160 grams of cocaine from the possession of Hashimi Mohammad Waris and Abdul Nayib.
Police found out that Waris has been living in India as refugee since January 2020, while gis family is in Afghanistan. On arrival in India, he worked in a Vikaspuri chemist shop as a helper. He got into the drugs business after his friend asked him to collect consignments from different people in Delhi and NCR. He later started delivering drugs too, and used to get $100 for each delivery.
Nayib, another Afghan national, also came to India in January 2020, with his father. A registered refugee, met Waris in the chemist shop where the latter was working initially.
Waris then lured Nayib into the drug business promising him a lavish lifestyle, police said.
